WHAT IS STRENGTHS BASED COACHING?
Our strengths are our innate abilities. They are things that we do so easily that we take them for granted and may even assume everyone possesses the same talents we have. But they don't. We each are endowed with a unique set of strengths and weaknesses that require a individual path to success. It's long been assumed that working on our weaknesses is the road to success.
That can work, but it's hard, slow going, and often unsatisfying. When we focus more on our strengths, improvement tends to be quick, feels easy, is ever so much more fun, and is uniquely ours.
Positive psychology strengths coaches focus on helping clients become aware of their strengths and leverage them for great results. We don't necessarily ignore weaknesses, because sometimes improvement in those areas can be helpful, but strengths get center stage attention. Much more empowering!
Strengths based coaching (based on VIA) is a world-leading strengths assessment and development tool based on the latest scientific research that has been used by 5 million people worldwide and has been translated into 37 languages. Unique and distinct from traditional one-dimensional strengths tests, VIA assesses individuals across 24 character strengths.. This provides a dynamic platform for development, enabling people to access the energy behind strengths and design strategies to maximize growth potential, minimize weaknesses and optimize performance and well-being.
Our certification program enables you to understand, interpret and debrief the VIA Profile, which reveals individuals’ underplayed and overplayed strengths, learned behaviors (or de-energizing) and unrealized strengths. You will also learn to facilitate positive, strengths-based coaching and development conversations.
WHAT WILL BE COVERED IN THE PROGRAM?
Phase 1: Foundation
Session 1: Introduction to the science and application of Positive Psychology based Character Strengths
Phase 2: A Personal Exploration Character Strengths for the Coach
Session 2: Strengths discovery & exploration: Discover your personal strengths using VIA and its application in your coaching practice
Phase 3: Deliver Strengths based coaching
Session 3: Building the strengths based Coaching Relationship
Session 4: Creating Coaching model towards signature strength awareness, exploration, and application
Phase 4: Building and Deepening Your Toolkit for Clients
Session 5: Strengths application: Learn how to use VIA tool, how to read and analyse VIA reports; how to get insights from a VIA report for your clients
HOW WILL IT BE DELIVERED?
It will be delivered through 5 one-on-one online coaching sessions with Baldeep. You will receive assignments after every coaching session that you will need to submit before the next class. The sessions will happen once every week. At the end of the 5 week session, you will be asked to submit a case report. Post your case evaluation, you will be awarded the certification.
Weekly reading assignments consist of material from current literature on mindfulness, character strengths, positive psychology, and coaching. Weekly exercises, meditations, and journal prompts aim to deepen students’ engagement with the material, and help them gain insight into their personal and professional development as coaches.
Students will complete a final project that involves the application of the principles and/or practices discussed in this course. The impetus of this project is to bring benefit to yourself and others (pay it forward) by applying mindfulness and/or character strengths.
CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION
Students who complete the full course (active course participation; viewing of all sessions in full; submission of final project) receive a personalized Certificate of Completion signed by the course instructors.

I have an art project to complete. For 3 months now. I have a round table made out of used car tyre with a plywood top. All I need is a few metres of rope to cover the tyres, and put some mosaic tiles on the plywood to make it beautiful. But it is not happening. Not for the past three months despite of some efforts from my end. One more month has passed since then.I still could not do it so I changed my strategy. I hired a carpenter yesterday. Something I could not finish for four months, the expert did it in two days.
That was a table. A piece of furniture. A non-living thing. Having one or not having one does not change much in my life.
